The Company was developing a new blue light curing device for the dental profession that is used for curing dental composites, when they realized that the new blue light technology could be a great benefit to people with gum disease. About Us
The innovative toothbrush called, UltraBlu™ is a totally new dental care system that represents a quantum leap in oral hygiene. The blue light destroys bacteria, blitzes plaque, and also has the added benefit of safely whitening teeth. The UltraBlu™ compared to other whitening methods has many advantages, especially since other whitening methods do not kill the bacteria that cause gum disease or destroy plaque. With the UltraBlu™ the use of nasty chemicals are not necessary as with other products. The biggest advantage in using the UltraBlu™ is that the teeth whiten as you brush, thereby eliminating a second step. Even without toothpaste the Company's proprietary royal blue light emitting diode destroys the bacteria that causes halitosis and gum disease.

UltraBlu™
The patent pending UltraBlu™ is a revolutionary dental care system that not only cleans the teeth but also prevents many forms of gum disease. Among the more destructive bacteria are the so-called "black-pigmented bacteria" (BPB), which have been implicated as pathogens associated with periodontitis. Such bacteria accumulate black pigment consisting mainly of organic compounds called porphyrins. Some porphyrins are photosensitive and when activated by visible light, induce a photodynamic reaction that kills the micro-organism within seconds.
Blue light can be used to selectively suppress certain bacteria commonly associated with destructive gum disease. Some of the key bacterial pathogens associated with periodontitis produce volatile sulfide compounds (VSC) that are responsible for gingivitis and halitosis. These same bacteria are sensitive to light, especially in the blue spectrum. The UltraBlu™ Advanced Blue Light Toothbrush produces a thin slice of blue light in the 450nm wavelength range with an output of 100 milliwatts of constant radiant flux that kills these harmful VSC producing bacteria on contact. The blue light in our brush is safe to use because it does not emit UV light which is below 400nm and is harmful to the eyes and skin. The 450nm blue light induces a photodynamic reaction that kills the micro-organisms on contact. When the proportion of harmful pathogens are reduced, the proportion of helpful bacteria increases, which helps the gums stay healthier. Hill Top Research Corporation
The objective of this study was to test the effect of visible light irradiation on oral microorganisms. The results show that blue light sources exert a phototoxic effect on P. gingivalis. Testing of the UltraBlu Blue Light Toothbrush showed a 99.39% kill rate (2.2 Log Reduction) with the test organism P. gingivalis.
